Urban renewal projects generate large amounts of waste concrete and bricks. Disposal costs money, but these materials are simply resources in the wrong place. With an impact crusher and vibrating screen, construction waste can be processed into four sizes of recycled aggregates for reuse.
Construction waste mainly consists of C20–C40 concrete blocks. After crushing and screening:
0–5mm → fine aggregate for brickmaking and backfill;
5–10mm → small aggregate for permeable bricks and mortar;
10–20mm → coarse aggregate for low-grade concrete;
20–35mm → large aggregate for road bases and foundation reinforcement.
Recycled aggregates are already widely used in construction and road repair.
For concrete up to C40, an impact crusher + vibrating screen is sufficient – no jaw or cone crusher needed. Concrete has poor impact resistance; the impact crusher uses high-speed impact to break it efficiently, producing good particle shape and fewer flaky particles.
Waste concrete contains rebar, wires, and embedded steel. If they enter the crusher, they can damage hammers or jam the rotor. Mobile impact crushers are equipped with a permanent magnetic separator that automatically removes iron on the conveyor belt. Benefits:
Higher quality aggregate with low iron content;
Scrap iron can be sold separately;
Protects downstream screening equipment;
Generates extra revenue.
Construction waste is scattered, and transport is expensive. Track-mounted mobile impact crusher + mobile screener can be deployed directly on site: excavator feeds, crusher crushes and removes iron, screener grades, and finished aggregates are loaded directly. No foundation, no external power, no conveyor maintenance – just one loader and two machines.
In a city redevelopment project, demolished C30–C40 concrete beams and slabs were processed using an SF-380D mobile impact crusher and SS-7018 mobile screener. Capacity: ~180–200 t/h, producing three sizes (0–5, 5–12, 12–23mm). About 15 kg of scrap steel was recovered per ton of feed. Recycled aggregates were sold to brick plants and road contractors, and scrap steel was sold separately – the project was highly profitable.
At 2,000 tons/day:
Recycled aggregate sales: ~30–50 RMB/ton × 2,000 = 60,000–100,000 RMB/day;
Scrap steel: ~2,000–3,000 RMB/ton × 30–50 tons = 6,000–15,000 RMB/day.
After deducting labor, fuel, and wear parts, payback period is typically 6–12 months.
Construction waste recycling is a proven business model. Key points:
For C40 and below concrete, an impact crusher is enough;
Iron removal is essential – magnetic separator is standard;
Mobile equipment saves transport costs;
Recycled aggregates have stable demand.
